NDIS updates:

Increased checks on older claims

The NDIS is increasing its checks on older payment claims to help reduce fraud, errors and rejected claims.

Since June 18, claims submitted more than 12 months after a support was delivered may be subject to additional checks. Over time, this will expand to include claims submitted six months or more after supports are delivered.

Claims may be held for up to 28 days while checks are completed, and providers may be contacted if further information or evidence is required.

The key takeaway? Submit claims as soon as possible after supports are delivered and make sure all required information and evidence is included.

Reduction to 90-day claiming timeframe

From December 1, the timeframe for claiming NDIS supports will reduce from two years (or 730 days) to 90 days after a support is delivered.

For plan managers, this makes timely invoicing and claim submission increasingly important – particularly where provider invoices are received late.

Now is a good time to review internal processes, follow up outstanding invoices and make sure providers are aware of the upcoming change too.

At Enable, we’ll continue to keep a close eye on the transition and help our network stay informed as the new timeframe comes into effect.
